Our objective is to partner with each client to formulate a unique treatment plan that addresses their specific needs, utilizing psychotherapy and tele-psychiatry to work toward achieving full remission of symptoms and improving their quality of life.
Mechi Mental Wellness has been delivering high-quality mental healthcare to the Birmingham metropolitan community since 2019. Dr. Demechiko French, the founder of Mechi Mental Wellness, identified a significant need for comprehensive mental healthcare in our area and has remained dedicated to that mission over the years. At Mechi Mental Wellness, we provide outpatient psychotherapy services both in-person and online through tele-psychiatry. Our center offers psychotherapy and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults. We treat a variety of psychiatric conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, insomnia, postpartum depression, and many other psychiatric diagnoses.
CEO/Founder
Dr. Demechiko French, the owner of Mechi Mental Wellness, is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in mental healthcare. With extensive training and experience, he treats patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan and in various practice settings, including hospitals, outpatient services, and corrections. Dr. French is married to Monique Rusell French, and they have two wonderful children, Harlee Elizabeth and Daxton Russell French.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. French completed his high school education at A.H. Parker High School. He has a strong passion for providing psychotherapy to underprivileged and vulnerable populations.
Dr. French's educational background includes:
· Associate Degree in Nursing from Lawson State Community College, Birmingham, Alabama.
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama.
· Master of Science in Nursing with a dual concentration in Psychiatric/Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama.
· Doctorate in Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he also explored tele-psychiatry to enhance accessibility to mental healthcare.
